Jun 12, 2024 The second day of the event, June 12, was attended by prominent speakers from Cambodia and Spain, experts in international relations, rectors and representatives of the Cambodian Ministry of Higher Education. The day began with a presentation on the state of internationalisation in Cambodia by the country's Deputy Director General of Higher Education, in which he focused on pointing out Cambodia's vision for the future, such as being a middle-income country by 2030, but also recognizing the challenges to ensure the improvement of higher education in the country in the long term; he then acknowledged some key actions for internationalisation to be carried out by HEIs and highlighted what the Ministry is already doing at present. Next, the director of the UA's Institutional Project Management Service, Carolina Madeleine, moderated the round table entitled "Knowledge Diplomacy: How Higher Education Institutions contribute to global transformation", in which the UA's Vice-Rector for International Relations, Rosa María Martínez; the Deputy Director General for Higher Education of Cambodia, Bunlay Nith; and Leticia Díaz Platero, from the International Dimension Service of the Higher Education Unit (SEPIE) participated. The speakers reflected on the role of universities as centers of knowledge to address global problems and transform society.This was followed by a round table discussion entitled "Strategies for Internationalization", which addressed the current situation of internationalisation in Cambodian HEIs. The participants in this discussion were: the Rector of Phnom Penh International University, Kolap Tep; the President of Western University, Kieng Rotana; the President of Southeast Asian University, Sothy Mean; and the Deputy Director General of the Cambodian Institute of Technology, Soy Ty.
